Class Fee and Cancellation Policy

Classes must be paid for at time of registration in order to hold your place. Name and phone number are required. Tax is applied to all materials. Class fees should be paid separately with cash or check, as this is paid directly to the class instructor.

Classes that do not meet the minimum class size will be cancelled three days prior to the date of the class. Students will be notified of all class cancellations. Fees for class cancellations due to low enrollment will be refunded to students in the form of a store credit or a credit toward another class.

Students may cancel their reservation in a class up to one week before the class date. The refund in the amount of the class fee will be given in the form of a store credit or credit toward another class.

For last minute cancellations and missed classes, students will not be refunded the class fee.

The cost of materials vary from class to class and is not included in the class fee. Each student should allow enough time prior to the class to purchase any necessary materials.

Materials: 125 16-gauge 4.5mm sterling silver open jump rings plus clasp of your choice.  Lobster claw or toggle will work well.

                                     

The BARREL WEAVE is not a difficult chain maille stitch, but it is a bit awkward at first. Constructed with 16 gauge sterling silver jump rings, this bracelet is delicate.  It measures just 3/8 of an inch wide.  You will learn the basics of Chain Maille, opening and closing rings while making the Barrel Weave pattern.  You will also learn the proper choice and use of tools required and a bit about the choice of correct ring size and be shown how to finish the bracelet with a clasp.  Be sure to bring eye glasses, if required.  Tools will be provided and will also be available for purchase.

This weave is fairly flat and is easy to do except for starting the weave.  That is why this is considered an intermediate weave.  Each student will learn the basic weave and how to start it.  Most of the bracelet will be finished in class.  You will learn the basics of Chain Maille, opening and closing jump rings while making the Half Persian pattern.  You will also learn the proper choice and use of tools required and a bit about the choice of correct ring size and will be shown how to finish the bracelet with a clasp. Be sure to bring eye glasses if needed.  Tools will be available for use and purchase.

This pendant is made from the Parallel/Helm Chain Maille pattern.  Students will be shown the Parallel Chain Maille weave pattern and then how to make it into a round "Rose" pendant.  We will be making only the pendant in class.  It may be added to a chain or chord.  Tools will be provided for use and are available for purchase.  Be sure to bring eyeglasses if required.

This Chain Maille weave is a very round and silky weave that delicately twists around the wrist.  You will be able to finish most of the bracelet and learn the finishing techniques plus general information about Chain Maille.  Be sure to bring necessary eye glasses if required.

 

Beading Basics

Learn the basics of stringing and wire wrapping in the store for free. We're happy to teach anyone how to attach a clasp to a necklace or bracelet or make a pair of earrings any time during store hours, provided the staff is available. No appointment is necessary, just come in anytime and we'll show you all the basic skills needed to get started beading. Our tools and tables are always available to customers and we're happy to help you start or finish most any project to the best of our abilities.

Private Beading Basics Classes can be scheduled during store hours for parties of 4 or more. The private class fee is $40 per person, please call the store for more information.

Learn a simple cage technique for wrapping cabochon-style beads or beads that have irregular shapes and no holes.  All you need is wire, a few tools, and a little imagination.  This wire wrapping technique can be used to hang a pendant, or include an otherwise unusable bead in a bracelet, earring or necklace.  The cage can be as simple or elaborate as you choose.  All it takes is a little practice.  Variations on this technique will be shown and each student will receive written instructions with pictures.  Many samples will be available for your viewing pleasure.  Wire wrapping will bring out your creativity and no two pieces will look the same.  Look forward to a surprise lesson on how to wrap a _________!!!!  Tools will be available for use or you may bring your own.

Learn this extremely versatile spiral rope technique using a simple needle and thread.  This stitch works up quickly, and produces a delicate sparkling crystal twist for the neck, wrist, or ears.  Because few materials are needed, this project is easily transported.  Simply changing the beads used in the outside spiral produces an entirely different look.  In class, we will use a bead and loop technique for closure; however, it is easy to attach a more traditional clasp.  There will be many samples on display.  Each student will receive take home instructions with pictures and variations on the stitch.  Students should expect to complete about half the bracelet in class and will be shown how to make the clasp.   Materials must be purchased prior to class (allow about ½ hour).   Each student may choose their own colors; however, contrast between the core beads and spiral beads helps in learning the stitch.

This net stitch rope is easy to learn and can be used to create a bracelet, necklace, or even individual beaded beads.  The stitch works up nicely with almost any kind of 4mm round bead including firepolished glass, pearls, crystals, or semi-precious stones.  Since this rope works up more slowly than some others, the piece will not be completed in class.  Different finishing techniques will be shown.  Pick up your materials prior to class and don?t forget to bring your glasses.  Samples of this piece are on display at BeadCache.
